Getting Here:

The countdown to adventure is on! By now, you may have already organized your flight to Barcelona. If not, here's a quick guide:

Barcelona has two major airports: El Prat (BCN) and Girona-Costa Brava (GRO).

El Prat is the main international airport, conveniently located just a short drive from the city center. Girona-Costa Brava is another option, located around an hour away from the center of Barcelona. 

Arrival Process

For those who opted for our shuttle service, a driver with a NOMA COLLECTIVE sign will be waiting to whisk you away to your destination. We'll have your flight information but if you're facing any flight delays, please DM us to ensure we're aware. 

If you prefer to organize your own transport, no worries! Taxis and rideshares like Uber are available at every airport. Barcelona's public transportation system is super easy to navigate and their buses/metro network provides easy access to various parts of the city.

If you opt for public transport, make sure to reach out to your Community Manager, they'll guide you through the process. 

Orientation

Now, once you've checked in at your apartment, this is where the fun really begins. Our welcome/kick-off ceremony will provide you with all the necessary information about your stay and give you the chance to meet your unique Noma community.

Weather:

Barcelona's pleasant Mediterranean climate has hot summers and cool winters, making it comfortable for exploring. Barcelona’s summer (June-August) has hot dry days and cool evenings with highs of 84°F (29°C), whereas the winter season (December-February) is mild, with lows of 46°F (8°C) with some rain in spring and fall.

Fashion:

Barcelona is renowned for its diverse, eccentric, and eclectic fashion style. Whether you prefer to keep it casual or if every day is a runway, Barcelona is the perfect place to showcase your unique and personal style. Don't forget to pack a light jacket and comfortable shoes - You can be fashionable and sensible all at once.

#alumni - Once your trip is over you’ll get a VIP backstage pass to the entire Noma Collective Community. You’ll have access to exclusive perks, recommendations, advice, and alumni-only Editions.

Passeig de Gràcia, one of the main avenues in Eixample, is a shopping paradise. You'll find luxury boutiques, international brands, and local shops. Stroll along this boulevard and indulge in some well-deserved retail therapy.

Food & Beverage

 Transportation 

Getting around  Barcelona is easy with its efficient with a comprehensive public transportation system. The T-10 Card, priced at 11.35 Euro, allows you to access all modes of public transport, including metro, buses, and even the Montjuic funicular, which you can ride to the beautiful Montjuic gardens (with 10 rides included).

For those who prefer to explore on foot, most of Barcelona's city center is easily reachable and beautiful to explore whilst walking. Additionally, various companies provide convenient scooter and bicycle rental services, often charged by the minute, allowing you to explore the streets of your neighborhood and beyond

Safety Briefing

1. Stay Vigilant:

Barceolna is generally safe, but like any big city, it's important to stay vigilant. Be aware of your surroundings and keep your valuables secure, especially in crowded areas.

2. Beware of Pickpockets:

Unfortunately, pickpocketing can occur in tourist areas. Keep your belongings close and avoid leaving bags unattended. Consider using a crossbody bag or money belt for added security.

3. Use Public Transportation Safely:

Barcelona's public transportation is efficient and a popular choice for getting around. If you're using the metro or buses, keep an eye on your belongings, especially in crowded areas.

4. Stay Safe at Night:

Barcelona has a vibrant nightlife, but ensure you're in well-lit and populated areas if out late and try to stay in groups. 

5.  Transportation Apps:

When using rideshare apps like Uber, verify the driver's details and vehicle before getting in. Always sit in the back seat, and let someone know your destination and expected arrival time.

6. Emergency Assistance:

In case of emergencies, dial 112 for police, fire, or medical assistance. The local police are known as "Mossos d'Esquadra." Keep essential contact numbers and identification with you at all times.

7. Respect Local Laws:

Respect local laws and customs, and avoid behaviors like public drunkenness or urination. Barcelona embraces diversity, but it's essential to respect local norms.

8. Use Trusted Services:

If you're exploring the city at night, stick to well-known transportation options like official taxis or rideshare services.

9. Stay Hydrated:

Barcelona's Mediterranean climate can get warm, especially in the summer. Stay hydrated and wear sunscreen to protect yourself.

Your Digital Nomad Guide 

As digital nomads ourselves, we understand the importance of a flexible work environment, and in Barcelona, we've got you covered. 

There are dedicated workspaces within all of our apartments, providing you with cozy spots to work. If you require more privacy for calls or focused work, some of our rooms also offer comfortable private desk areas. All of these areas have great WiFi and your Community Manager is just a Slack message away if you need anything.

Barcelona offers a variety of co-working spaces within walking distance, and we collaborate with a local spot, so if you're interested in purchasing a discounted co-working pass here, give us a shout, and we can organize it for you.

Our community, events and code of conduct

Events Schedule

You'll receive a shared Google schedule two weeks before arrival, so you know what to expect when you arrive.  

Sign-up: We announce the weekly events schedule on Slack every Monday morning which includes at least one event a day, offering something for everyone.

The events consist of 4 categories:

Wellbeing: Yoga classes are included as part of your package. You can also take part in HIIT classes or running.

Adventure: We embark on weekly adventures to uncover the city's hidden gems. We work with two Local Community Managers, your guides to Barcelona's hidden gems and secret spots. Weekly group excursions range from walking tours, bike tours and day trips.

Community: We host various community events including a weekly family dinners and brunches.

Professional Growth: Noma community members have the chance to host workshops that focus on their professional background or personal interest/skill. 

Code of Conduct 

We are a diverse and inclusive community, committed to supporting one another in our shared journey. Please extend your support to those organizing events and don't hesitate to ask questions; there are no such things as 'stupid questions' or 'boring events.'

At Noma, the safety and comfort of every member are paramount. We have solo travelers and staggered arrivals, so let's make every newcomer feel genuinely welcome and supported in their experience.

Leaving Ceremony 

Our leaving ceremony is a space to share how it was to spend a month in the exciting and vibrant city of Barcelona! Expect wine, cheese and endless entertaining stories.

Here, we will hold a Community Forum, where you can share feedback about your experience to help us continue to grow, improve and keep curating exceptional adventures you love.

Transfers to the Airport 

We provide shuttles to the airport when you leave, but if you prefer to make your own way, please let us know so that we can make the necessary arrangements.

Finally, sit back, relax and start counting down the days until you arrive in Barcelona! We can't wait to see you and show you around one of our favorite places - it's going to be an incredible adventure.
