Overview

Join us for three weeks in our HQ, Belize. Bring your job, we will do the rest. Expect group events like family dinners, nights out in the local towns and game nights. On the weekends we explore the ocean with catamaran trips, island hopping, snorkelling and diving, as well as waterfall chasing, mayan ruin exploration and many more. All of this, fitting around your work day. Belize is one of the last remaining ‘undiscovered’ gems of the Caribbean and we think it’s time you discovered it! The Resort consists of several 1,000 sqft two bedroom apartments and condos spread across 13 acres of land stretching from the sandy white beach to the Placencia lagoon. Being surrounded by water on both sides and home to an Olympic-sized swimming pool, gives Umaya a wonderfully relaxing atmosphere; perfectly suited to the laid-back lifestyle of the Caribbean. Plus more water means more water sports and we offer kayaks, paddle boarding and boat trips. The local area is teeming with stunning wildlife; see if you can spot gibnuts, coatimundis, manatees and even dolphins from your balcony! On-site there is plenty to do and be involved in. We have a volleyball pitch, an incredible pool, perfectly located palapas for relaxing under, two restaurants, docks on both the lagoon and ocean and so much more. If you’re looking for that perfect work-life balance, Noma Collective Belize is the place to find it!

Trip tips

Bring a go with the flow attitude

Bring a go with the flow attitude

Belize has a wonderful island life mentality and a motto in much of the country is 'Go Slow'. Things might not always go to plan, but we can assure you, you will have more beautiful experiences by learning to let loose and enjoy it for what it is.

Have heavy bandwidth requirements? Bring an ethernet cable

Have heavy bandwidth requirements? Bring an ethernet cable

With Placencia being on a peninsular, sometimes we experience power outages. Due to this, we always provide personal data hotspots to ensure you're covered in the case of dropouts. If you have heavy bandwith requirement and need a strong direct line from the modem to your laptop we recommend bringing an ethernet cable and adaptor for your laptop.

FAQs

We have a few designated coworking spaces. On the lagoon side we have a spacious area with comfortable chairs, overlooking the Placencia lagoon and the Maya Mountains.

On the beach side, we have the palapas overlooking the ocean. One has comfortable sofas, one with tables and chairs, making it the perfect zoom meeting backdrop.

We have 50-100mps up and down connection in the rooms and the shared working areas.

As of May 1 2022, if you're fully vaccinated, you no longer need to have a negative covid test to enter the country.

You also no longer need to wear masks in public areas and there are no more curfews meaning that late night & music events have started up again.

We have a laundry service at the resort, where you can give a load of laundry to housekeeping and they will return it within 24 hours. This is a cost of 10USD added to your room bill.

All apartments come with a fully equipped kitchen.

A typical week in Belize is a great mixture of productivity and focused work hours, wellness, skill sharing and letting loose on the weekends with fun nights out. We also get to explore the wonderful country on a variety of land & sea based excursions

We have anywhere between 15-35 guests at our Belize location

No! None of the events are compulsory. We include events that suit everyone and help to create bonds within the community. We suggest that everyone attends the family dinner as its a great way to meet the whole group and welcome any new arrivals, but you can opt out if you'd like.

Yes you do! We are a community that host and facilitate remote workers all around the world bringing a change to their 9-5 work schedule.

Once arriving into the country of Belize you will then have the option to catch a 3 hour shuttle by land or a 30min flight to our location in Placencia. If you choose to fly then you'll choose between Tropic Air or Maya Airline.
