Calling all movers and groovers, whether you're a seasoned dancer or simply love moving to great music. We've teamed up with the amazing Elena & Karla to bring you a week-long shuffling dance retreat in the heart of the jungle in Chemuyil, Mexico. Elena & Karla will guide you through a journey of community, empowerment, and positive energy. Plus, you'll have the chance to learn and master a choreographed dance with your fellow retreat members, taking your skills to the next level. Your home base? The enchanting Dora Resort, where each day is a whirlwind of fun, creativity, and bonding - from sunrise shuffle sessions to moonlit soirées under the stars. Dora Resort offers a harmonious blend of eco-conscious flair and rustic charm. Dive into the pool, gather around the fire pit, and discover the magical cenote right on-site. Elena
Elena found her calling in shuffling after attending her first music festival in Miami. From that transformative experience, she evolved from a shy outsider to a respected figure within the shuffle community. With a decade of experience and a deep passion for teaching, Elena shares her expertise with infectious enthusiasm, empowering others to find their rhythm through her classes and events, including DJing under the name Earth Signs. Karla
Karla, a Mexican native, transitioned from a career in law to pursue her passion for shuffling during the challenging times of the pandemic. With relentless dedication, she mastered the art and became a respected figure in the shuffle community, overcoming language barriers and embracing newfound freedom. Now, Karla radiates boundless energy and excitement as she invites others to join her in celebrating the transformative power of following one's heart through her Instagram dance tutorials and classes. Dancing at Dora Resort
A stunning, jungle style accommodation with a pool, picturesque lounge and private cenote; what more could you want? Surrounded by lush greenery and the soothing sounds of nature, you'll dance in the serene shala pictured to the left. Need a culture fix? Tulum is just 25 minutes away and is brimming with exploration opportunities.
FAQs
Do I need to know how to Shuffle dance, or be a dancer in general to join?
No! We welcome all skill levels. Simply bring a desire to move, to learn and to have a great time while exploring a new form of dance!
Do we need to attend all events?
While none of the events are compulsory, they are part of the experience, as well as connecting with your community for the week, and are included in the price of your Edition! We highly encourage attendance to all the week's events for these reasons.
How many people are on the trip?
There are 20 rooms in the accommodation offering individual, and multiple bed options.
How can I make sure I'm roomed with my friend who is also going?
Simply email franki@noma-collective.com to request your roommate after booking.
What flights are needed to get there?
All you need to do is get a flight/flights (depending on where you are flying from) to the Cancun International Airport.
I see Dora is in a jungle environment, should I be concerned about bugs or critters?
Dora Resort is located in a very lush, tropical environment. It is not uncommon to find harmless critters in your room at times, and the Dora staff is quick to respond should you need assistance removing any unwelcome visitors from the great outdoors.
We highly recommend brining bug spray as well, to ensure you are comfortable throughout the week.
How will I get from the airport to the property?
Once landed at Tulum International Airport, Noma will be waiting to pick you up and take you to Dora Resort at our designated shuffle times of 2 pm and 7 pm local time. You will be allocated your shuttle based off your arrival time information, gathered on your on-site advance form, approximately 6 weeks prior to the start date.
What is the public transport like?
Public transportation near Dora consists of mostly taxis that will need to be hailed in advance if needed, due to the remoteness of the location.
Is alcohol included or available on-site?
We're excited to kick off your evening with a sundowner drink! Just a heads up though, we're all about keeping it chill and responsible, and we don't support excessive drinking. Dora does not have a liquor license so if you're wanting a few more drinks, make sure to purchase some at the airport before arrival!
Is there laundry on site?
There are no laundry services on site, however, you are able to request the use of off-site laundry services for an additional cost.
Where is the nearest hospital/medical centre?
Costamed Tulum is the nearest hospital and it's 22 min away. There are also on call doctors who are 15 minutes away.
What is the cancellation policy?
Any cancellation of reservations or portions of reservations MUST be received in writing.
● 90 days or more prior to arrival = 100% refund of deposit, less 20% cancellation fee (of total trip ticket price) + US$100 processing fee.
● 0 - 90 days prior to arrival = No refund
● No show = No refund
● All shared accommodation is non transferable
Due to the above it is HIGHLY recommended that all clients purchase “trip cancellation insurance” in order to cover a possible cancellation of 60 days or less of your itinerary.
